Methodology & Data Sources

Where our data comes from

Everything on Yu-Gi-Oh Card Listis built from open, community-maintained data sources. We do not scrape Konami's official pages or marketplace sold-listing data. The snapshot is rebuilt periodically (typically when new sets or banlists drop) and the date of the current snapshot is shown above.

• Card data & prices — YGOPRODeck. Card names, text, types, stats, archetypes, and the marketplace figures behind our price hints come from the YGOPRODeck API (cardinfo, cardsets, and archetypes endpoints).
• Set & product data — YGOJSON. Set, sealed-product, and series metadata is drawn from YGOJSON (MIT licensed).
• Banlists — YAML-Yugi. The current and historical TCG, OCG, and Master Duel limit regulations come from YAML-Yugi (DawnbrandBots).
• Card history & localized names — YGOResources. Official card names in other languages and some card-text corrections come from the YGOResources card-history dataset, used with the maintainer's permission.
• Card images — YGOPRODeck. Card art is downloaded from YGOPRODeck and cached on our own servers rather than hot-linked. For every cached image we keep the original source URL, the fetch date, and a checksum for attribution and verification.

How the price hint is computed

Each card's “approximate value” is a single, deliberately conservative price hint, not a market price. We read YGOPRODeck's per-card price block and take the lowest non-zero USD figure across the TCGplayer, eBay, Amazon, and CoolStuffInc fields. Cardmarket is excluded because it is quoted in euros. Zero, blank, negative, and implausibly large values (parse failures) are discarded.

We choose the lowest non-zero figure on purpose: it is the value least likely to read as “expensive” when a card is not, and it avoids a single inflated listing making a common card look valuable. On set, list, and archetype views, the price column falls back to this per-card figure because YGOPRODeck's per-printing price is missing for the majority of printings.

Limitations

The price hint is a rough indicator from recently observed listings, not an appraisal, offer, or official value. Real prices vary enormously with the specific printing, set code, rarity, edition, language, condition, and grading— a single card name can span cheap reprints and four-figure first-edition copies. Always check current marketplace listings (including sold listings) before buying or selling. See the disclaimer for the full pricing caveat.

All rights to that material remain with those owners. Yu-Gi-Oh Card List claims no ownership of it and displays it for identification and reference only.

Yu-Gi-Oh Card List is an unofficial fan-made database and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Konami, Studio Dice, Shueisha, TV Tokyo, or their affiliates. Yu-Gi-Oh! card names, text, images, and related marks are property of their respective owners.
